All of Corrie Ten Booms’ wonderful books are recommended reading, as are films and documentaries of her truly remarkable life. Her biography is astounding, and her example of devotion to God, fearlessness, and power of forgiveness are just some of the powerful traits of her life legacy.

A poem she often quoted and indeed may even have written is The Divine Weaver  (or The Weaving ). In public talks, she is known to have held up pieces of cloth/tapestry and show the underside first. All the crossing of threads, mixture of colours, bits of knots, etc. before turning it over to reveal the stunning picture of a beautiful crown. It was skilfully woven out of all the messy looking threads from the underside.

We often only see the underside, but God is the master weaver and will make something very beautiful out of our lives if we let him.

Be blessed and encouraged that God will truly work all things together for good in our lives. We can trust him implicitly and wholly surrender ourselves to his craftmanship for all of our life here in this world.

The Weaving

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colours
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skilful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
