I Wanted To Change The World

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.

Making changes is never easy, but good changes bear good fruit in our lives. Start small and start today in changing your world and then the world around you.

Book Recommendation

This week I would like to recommend a book that I have now read twice and already need to read again.

The Emotionally Healthy woman by Geri Scazzero

Although written for women this is a wonderful book for those who are spouses of a minister/pastor. Plenty to glean for all.
(We recently recommended a series of books for pastors and leaders by her husband Peter Scazzero. Well worth investing in.)

As you read, be prepared to have your own mindsets shaken. As you relish in her honesty you will find what it means to be at peace in who you are, and who you are in God as you serve him in ministry.
There are , in my opinion , many “twee ” books out there written about ministry. This one is honest and vulnerable and also wonderfully helpful in helping making healthy boundaries both in church life but more importantly in home and marriage life.
Be blessed in all that you do and in who you are to all those around you. Never forget that heaven cheers you on, even if at times it feels no-one else is! God loves you and is For you. Always.

A little bit about the author: Geri Scazzero knew there was something desperately wrong with her life. She felt like a single parent raising her four daughters alone. She finally told her husband “I quit” and left the thriving church he pastored, beginning a journey that transformed her and her marriage for the better.
The journey to emotional health begins by quitting. Geri quit being afraid of what others think. She quit lying. She quit denying her anger and sadness. She quit living someone else’s life. When you quit those things that are damaging to your soul or the souls of others, you are freed up to choose other ways of being and relating that are rooted in love and lead to life.

This is a great book to invest in , you’ll be glad you did.

The Promises of God

In an uncertain world- one thing remains true and never changing - that is The promises of God. They are not “maybe’s or “maybe not’s ” They are iron clad words of God for our good, edification, encouragement, protection , hope and spiritual strength.

So many people today are living with fear and uncertainties. Even those in ministry can slip into negative or fearful thinking so easily.

We need to take our thoughts captive, along with our senses and opinions and instead stand firmly and irrevocably on the Promises of God. This world will pass away, but His Word endures forever!

2 Corinthians 1:20 says the promises of God are “Yea” and “Amen”. “Yea” means “yes”. The promises of God are not “yes” then “no”. They’re not “I don’t know” or “Maybe so”. The promises of God are “Yes!” Will He save you? “Yes!” Will He heal you? “Yes!” Will He deliver you? “Yes!” Will He set you free? “Yes!” Will He supply your needs? “Yes!” The promises of God are “Yes” and the promises of God are “Amen.” Jesus said in Revelation 1:14 that He is the Amen, the faithful and true witness, and the beginning of the creation of God. Jesus is the Amen! Amen means “So be it.” Amen means “It’s already done.” The promises of God are “Yes.” The promises of God are “So be it.” The promises of God are “It’s already done.”

Greeting From The Prayer Team

THANK YOU for your faithfulness and obedience to God’s call, for your love for Him, His Word and His people - so we, as members of the local church, get fed and built up, encouraged, exhorted and envisioned. Although we can’t fully know what it looks like to walk in your shoes, we are called to encourage and support you, to love you and pray for you and that is the desire of our hearts! As a part of the small but dedicated and experienced prayer team of ESPS we are not unaware of the battle that rages—physical and spiritual in the lives of our church leaders and we want you to know that we are cheering you on and bringing you before God.

We realise it can take a lot to trust anyone with personal prayer requests but we assure you we would consider it a privilege to stand with you - whether you already have a team of intercessors or not, and as Donna has been at pains to communicate, every request is treated in strictest confidence.

Please let us know how we can specifically pray for you via the contact page.

Have a wonderful weekend!
With love and prayers
